RD Congo : Burey finds coarse visible gold in Belgian explored Douze Match

Burey Gold Ltd, listed on ASX, is excited about the finding of coarse visible gold in an area mined previously by the Belgians at Douze Match in its Giro Gold Project, Oriental Province, in the north-east Democratic Republic of Congo.

This has been identified in quartz veins over a 5m interval, the company disclosed on June 8, besides sulphide mineralization in ongoing RC drilling programme in “Tango” workings at its Douze Match target, an area mined under Belgian rule and more recently by artisanal means.

Australia based explorer said that samples collected on site have been sent to accredited SGS Laboratories in Mwanza and the first results are expected before end June.

The intersection of a cavity surrounded by quartz veins with coarse visible gold gives an indication of the mineralization of the zone presumably mined by the Belgians”, Burey Gold’sChairman Klaus Eckhof commented.

He went on to explain that Belgians were only interested in mining grades of more than 10g/t gold and would not have sampled the sulphide rich wallrock which has potential to host significant gold mineralization.

It is reported that the Belgians mined sheared and quartz veined volcano-sediments at the “Tango Prospect” and “little historic information” is known about the production at Tango as it is assumed all mined ore was processed at nearby Mangote.

To the north of Burey Gold’s drilling zone, Belgian colonials mined two deposits up to the end of the colonial era in the 1960’s, namely the Mangote open pit where historic drilling results included 0.6m at 37g/t Au and 0.35m at 485g/t Au and the Kai-Kai underground workings.

Burey Gold holds 55% interest in the Giro Gold Project which is two exploitation permits covering a surface area of 610km² within the Kilo-Moto Belt.

Kilo-Moto is a significant under-explored greenstone belt that hosts Randgold Resources’s 17-million ounce Kibali group of deposits, lying within 30km of Giro.
