Morocco : Sound Energy confirms gas presence in Triassic reservoir in Tendrara

Sound Energy, the European and Mediterranean focused upstream gas company, on June 20 disclosed the presence, in the Tendrara first exploration well, of total net pay of 28 m in a Triassic reservoir.

The London listed company said this in an update based on preliminary results on its exploration activities in Morocco, especially following the completion of Tendrara well drilling.

“The preliminary petrophysical analysis confirms the presence of a number of gas bearing levels and a total net pay of 28 metres in the TAGI reservoir”, the company disclosed.

“This is ahead of initial expectations”, Sound Energy also said, before revealing the anticipation of the second well drilling at Tendrara, as it has now applied for the first complementary period under the licence terms.
Tendrara licence comprises eight blocs covering in total 14,500 km² area in the north-east of Morocco.

Further, the upstream gas company said the exercise of its option, subject to regulatory and other approvals, in order to acquire a 55% participating interest in the Meridja exploration permit, onshore Morocco, from Oil & Gas Investment Fund S.A.S.

The Meridja onshore licence is a highly prospective 9,000 km² area with the same fundamental geology as Tendrara. It is adjacent to the Tendrara licence.
